Mark Jackson - mj@thompsons-solicitors.co.uk

Mark was educated at Methodist College, Belfast before attending University in England to study law.  Upon graduating he returned to Northern Ireland and completed the Certificate in Professional Legal Studies at The Queen's University of Belfast so as to become a Solicitor.  He was apprenticed to Mrs Lorraine Thompson, the founder of Thompsons Solicitors, and was admitted as a Solicitor in 1997.  He is now the Managing Partner.  His areas of work are wide ranging, from conveyancing through to commercial litigation.  He acts for a number of business and commercial clients dealing with all of their legal affairs.  In addition he deals with the administration and winding up of estates, personal injury litigation and some bankruptcy and insolvency matters.

He assisted as a Tutor at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies at The Queen's University of Belfast from 1997 to 2000. 

He was appointed by the Lord Chief Justice as a Member of the Solicitors' Disciplinary Tribunal in March 2009.

Simon was educated at Royal School Armagh and then read law at The Queen's University of Belfast.  He completed the Certificate of Professional Legal Studies at The Queen's Unversity of Belfast to become a Solicitor and served his apprenticeship at a large Belfast firm.  He was admitted as a Solicitor in 1997 and immediately upon qualification took up a post with Thompsons Solicitors going on to become a Partner in 2003.  He specialises in all aspects of family law including separation, divorce, ancillary relief and related matters.  He has received a number of mentions in Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession over the last few years as one of the best Solicitors in the area of family law in Northern Ireland.   The 2009 Guide states Simon "handles a steady flow of divorce and ancillary relief cases and the occasional child-related dispute. “A detailed and thorough lawyer,” he is one of Northern Ireland’s best-known names in the field".  Simon also undertakes some other areas of work including personal injury litigation and writing Wills.

Ruth joined Thompsons in 2007 and deals mainly with residential conveyancing and the winding up and administration of estates.

Heather is currently at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies at The Queen's University of Belfast training to become a Solicitor.  She is apprenticed to Mark Jackson.
